Wings 2019 Training Camp Report: Day 17

After taking Monday for 2019 Media Day, Dallas Wings training camp was back on from the main court at College Park Center. With just a few days remaining until the 2019 season tips off in Atlanta for the Wings, Head Coach Brian Agler was making more fine tunes to his defense. The Dallas’ defense held opponents to an average of 73.3 points per game this preseason, ranking them fourth best in the League. On the other side of the court, the Wings are getting contact at the rim and going to the foul line. The team’s 21.7 attempts and 17.0 makes from the charity stripe rank them third best in the W.

“It’s been a great effort by the group. Everybody is trying to learn right now, it’s a lot of information, so times it’ll be information overload. Vets are learning too. This is a new system we’re trying to get down, we got games coming up so we’re doing a little scouting today in practice, but everyone’s been trying to get locked in. It’s a great effort so far and I’m looking forward to being able to watch it all come together.” – Skylar Diggins-Smith

“I’m feeling excited because we have games coming up. I’m just excited to get back on the court and battle. I’ve mentioned this a lot, but I’m focusing on being confident in myself because I feel that if I’m not confident then I’m not going to do a lot and make mistakes. Going out there and doing my best is the biggest thing for me.”– Kennedy Burke

“Everybody’s competing hard, playing well and working hard to get a spot. We have to go through that process, but we also have to get ready for the season too, which is fast approaching. I think we’re getting better, but there’s a lot that we need to get better at – and there’s not enough hours in the day to do that – so we just pick out areas that are urgent and we’ve been working on that. In general, the most improvement has come on defense. It’s moving in the right direction.” – Head Coach Brian Agler

The Wings will be pack at practice tomorrow, getting work in at TCU.
