WHAT HAPPENED

The Dallas Wings finished it’s first week of 2019 Training Camp practice this afternoon from the Crum Basketball Center on the campus of SMU. With it being the team’s last session before its first two preseason games, Coach Agler used the day to tune in the team’s offense. Today’s segments included an offensive walk through and situational offensive opportunities, baseline out of bounds plays, sideline out of bounds plays and setting up fast breaks off free throws, to name a few.

WHAT WAS SAID

“It’s been a really great week, as we would’ve liked. We’ve progressed each day, which is great. We’re becoming more poised, getting used to each other and the rookies are learning. As a leader on the floor, the rookies are really great at listening to things we have to say, and we’re not perfect, so we’re going back and forth helping each other all around and I feel like we all want to get better. Be a gritty team and go out and do the intangibles and get it done.” – Cayla George

“I can’t believe it’s been a week. We’ve been doing really well. Coach Agler is throwing a lot of new stuff at us so we’re learning a lot each day. I think each day we’re getting better, which is cool to see, and we’re getting a better feel for each other so I’m hoping it all comes together during our preseason games.” – Azura Stevens

“I think it’s been fantastic. There’s a lot of nice, young talent within the team. Obviously, our veterans have returned in great shape, so it’s been a good week. They’ve been competitive, and that’s what you want in any training camp. Looking forward now to going to Connecticut, playing some games and letting them showcase their own skill set.” – Assistant Coach Erin Phillips

“Anytime you put competition into practice you’re going to have some intensity and a lot of focus because these teams are made of competitors. We were working on a lot of execution type things, both full court and half court.” – Head Coach Brian Agler
