Game Preview: Dallas Wings at Los Angeles Sparks

Arlington, TX (Sept. 6, 2025) – The Dallas Wings conclude their 2025 road slate on Sunday at the Los Angeles Sparks. Tipoff at Crypto.com Arena is set for 5 p.m. CT, with the game airing locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on KFAA29 and nationally on NBA TV. Ron Thulin and Fran Harris will have the call.
The Wings (9-33) are coming off an 84-80 setback at the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday night. Paige Bueckers had a game-high 27 points, becoming the Dallas franchise rookie scoring leader, reaching 650 career points while also bumping her average to a Wings rookie record 19.1 points per game. Los Angeles (19-22) dropped back-to-back games at the Atlanta Dream this week, most recently on Friday, 104-85. Dearica Hamby had a team-high 26 points.
Bueckers has shined in the last two meetings with LA, including the WNBA rookie record-setting 44-point performance at Crypto.com Area on Aug. 20. Prior to that, she scored 29 points against the Sparks at College Park Center on Aug. 15. The Sparks have squeaked out the last two wins by a single point in each game, with Kelsey Plum providing the buzzer-beater in the most recent showdown – an 81-80 Los Angeles victory.
Following Sunday’s game, the Wings play their final game of the 2025 season on Thursday, Sept. 11 when they host the Phoenix Mercury at College Park Center for Fan Appreciation Night.

Bueckers Sets Rookie Franchise Scoring Standard … With a game-high 27 points, Paige Bueckers became the Wings franchise rookie scoring leader on Thursday night at the Golden State Valkyries, passing Arike Ogunbowale (630 points in 2019) with 650 career points. The tally also moved Bueckers to fourth in WNBA history for most points by a rookie, with A’ja Wilson next on the list at 682 points (2018). Bueckers’ scoring average (19.118) currently ranks sixth among rookies in WNBA history and tops in Wings franchise history for a first-year player. Bueckers already owns the rookie franchise assists mark with 180 and counting – fourth most among all rookies in WNBA history.
Bueckers Three-Peats as WNBA Rookie of the Month … Paige Bueckers was named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for the third consecutive month. Bueckers became the 10th player in WNBA history and first in Wings franchise history to earn the distinction three times. Bueckers led all rookies in scoring and assists in the month of August, punctuated by setting the single-game rookie scoring record. The 6-0 guard averaged 20.3 points and 5.0 assists over 10 games in August, not only leading all first-year players in scoring but listing fourth among all WNBA players. She shot 49.7 percent from the field and 93.6 percent from the free-throw line while adding 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals. The month was highlighted by Bueckers’ record-setting performance at the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 20. She scored 44 points to break the WNBA single-game rookie scoring record.
Amazing Amy … The Dallas Wings signed Amy Okonkwo to a rest of season contract, the team announced on Friday. In six games with the Wings, she has averaged 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting over 48 percent from the field. Okonkwo, who went to school at nearby TCU and served as an intern for the Dallas Wings in 2018, has the third-highest scoring average among undrafted first-year players in league history. Her scoring average currently ranks fifth among all active undrafted players.
