Forward NaLyssa Smith attended the annual GEM Celebration hosted by GEM (Girls Empowered by Mavericks). In attendance was nearly 1,000 young women from middle and high schools across the DFW Metroplex.

NaLyssa joined the Engage Panel with Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, Mavs Legend and MavsTV personality Devin Harris, and Dallas Trinity FC midfielder Lexi Missimo. She spoke about her experience as a professional athlete, advice to the young girls in the audience, and her excitement to join the Dallas Wings.

Launched by the Mavericks in 2021, the GEM program, or Girls Empowered by Mavericks, focuses on using physical activity, financial literacy, mental wellness, and education on STEM opportunities as a foundation to support the development and success of young women.
