Wings Round Out Series Against The Liberty In Afternoon Play

ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Wings round out their series against the New York Liberty in an afternoon matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for noon and can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest PLUS.

KIDS DAY
Today’s game features Kids Day, where the team will host over 4,000 summer campers to one of the best summer games of the season. Each camper will receive a commemorative program featuring a Wings player that folds out into a poster.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Wings are coming off a two-game road stretch where they went 1-1. They play two games at home against the Liberty on 7/17 and the Mystics on 7/19. In their eight home games, the team is averaging 88.9 points per game and boast a 7-3 record. Since moving to College Park Center, the Wings are 23-21. Cambage and Diggins-Smith lead all scorers, averaging 19.9 and 19.5 points per game respectively. In the Wings last home win, they scored 101 points against the Mercury. Skylar Diggins-Smith led the way with 20 points and four assists.

AGAINST THE EAST
The Wings are matching up well when it comes to east conference foes. Overall the team is 6-1 and 3-1 on the road. The Wings currently own the series against Indiana and Atlanta with 2-0 records. The team’s largest margin of victory over east conference teams is 23, which occurred against Atlanta on 5/20 and recently Chicago on 7/5. Both wins took place on the Wings home court, with the team scoring 100-plus points to record season highs. The Wings evened the season series against New York with a 97-87 win on the road in which Skylar Diggins-Smith led the way with 32 points. The Wings kick off an 11-game stretch against the Eastern Conference when they take on the Liberty on Tuesday.

AGAINST THE LIBERTY
This afternoon’s matchup will round out the series against the Liberty. Currently the series is tied at 1-1. Last game, the Wings returned to New York for a second meeting and came away with a 97-87 victory behind Skylar Diggins-Smith’s 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists to tie it all up. Overall the series is tied at 33-33.

The Wings are currently first in the WNBA in scoring, averaging 87.1 points per game. The Wings highest scoring game came against the Chicago Sky, when the team scored 108 points. They have scored at least 100 points in four total contests this season, the first two coming against the Atlanta Dream and the Los Angeles Sparks in a blowout victory that saw 10 different players score for the Wings. The most recent 100-point game came in a 101-72 win over the Phoenix Mercury. The four 100-point games are a franchise record for most 100-point games in a single season. In the 19 games played, the Wings have recorded 70-plus points in 18 out of 19 games, keeping opponents to an 81.3 point per game average. Against the Sky, the Wings recorded a season-high 62 points in the paint. Cambage and Diggins-Smith lead the Wings, averaging 19.9 and 19.5 points per game respectively. Their 39.4 points per game make them the second-highest scoring duo in the league. Against the Sky, the Wings scored a season-high 108 points on 57 percent from the field. Cambage scored a career-high 37 points, while Diggins-Smith recorded her 53rd 20-point game of her career. Against the Liberty, Diggins-Smith broke Deanna Nolan’s franchise records for most 20-point and most 30-point games when she recorded 32 points on the road.

WHERE WE STAND
The Wings are currently fifth in the WNBA standings with an 12-9 record, including 7-3 at home. Since moving to Dallas, the Wings have never finished above seventh in the final standings. In their inaugural season, the Wings finished 11th in the league before improving to seventh in the 2017 season. The Wings are looking to record their first winning season since moving to the DFW area. The Wings are currently in line to make the playoffs for the second straight season.
