Notable Storylines
Busy Stretch Ahead…  Sunday kicks off a stretch of four games in six days for the Dallas Wings, with all four being played at home. Including this past week’s games, the Wings are in the midst of six games in 11 days. The exclamation point comes on Aug. 1 when the Wings host the Indiana Fever at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas for the second time this season.
Haley Hitting Her Stride…  Wings guard/forward Haley Jones scored 10 points on Friday night in her homecoming game in the Bay Area at the Golden State Valkyries. It was the third consecutive game Jones has scored in double figures, marking the first time in her three-year career she has scored 10 or more in back-to-back-to-back games.
Bueckers Stealing the Show…  Wings rookie guard Paige Bueckers is the lone player in the WNBA to rank in the top 10 this season in scoring (9th, 18.1), assists (8th, 5.6) and steals (4th, 1.8). Bueckers matched her career high with four steals against the Golden State Valkyries on Friday night as she inched closer to the Wings rookie top 10 list for steals in season. Bueckers currently has 36 thefts over 20 games, putting her two steals away from the top 10, with Sandy Brondello and Angel Goodrich currently tied for ninth with 38. Should Bueckers’ 1.8 steals per game hold, it would be the highest by a rookie in the WNBA since Napheesa Collier’s 1.9 average in 2019. The last rookie to average 2.0 or more per game was Tulsa Shock newcomer Glory Johnson who was credited with 2.1 per contest in 2012.
Quinerly Defying The Odds…  Since 2000, only 10 WNBA Third Round Draft selections have averaged at least five points per game in their rookie season. JJ Quinerly, the 27th overall pick in 2025, will look to become the 11th since 2000 and 24th overall to do so. Her scoring average (6.9) currently ranks 13th all-time among third-round picks in their rookie seasons, which includes the 1997 and 1999 Drafts when players from other professional leagues were eligible.  She also ranks third in 2025 among third-round picks behind Temi Fágbénlé (8.3) and Sug Sutton (7.4) – Fágbénlé was the 35th overall selection in 2016 and Sutton 36th in 2020.
