The Dallas Wings tip-off the team’s 2018 season at the University of Texas at Arlington’s College Park Center on Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. The Wings will host the Atlanta Dream on a day all fans in attendance will receive a complimentary “Rise Together” t-shirt and College Park Center concession stands will feature $1 hot dogs (while supplies last).

The 2018 season, the third for the team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, promises to be exciting. The roster features 10 returning players, including All-Star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith, along with veterans Glory Johnson, Karima Christmas-Kelly, and Theresa Plaisance. Fellow returners, Aerial Powers and Kayla Thornton also join the roster.

Four members of last year’s rookie class will begin their sophomore season, led by 2017 Rookie of the Year Allisha Gray and 2017 All-Rookie Team member Kaela Davis, as well as Saniya Chong and Breanna Lewis. Rounding out this year’s squad is international sensation, 6-foot-8 center Liz Cambage, who returns to WNBA action for the first time since 2013, and the Wings sixth overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft Azurá Stevens.

This season, the Wings have added new experiences for fans to enjoy, including a ceremonial pre-game tradition that will begin at the home opener. In an effort to enhance the team’s home court advantage, Dallas Cowboys running back Rod Smith will serve as a special guest in a new tradition where he will lead the crowd in a “Let’s Go Wings” chant moments before tip-off.

Prior to tip, the Wings will host the CIGNA Youth Basketball Clinic, in partnership with the Tamika Catchings Catch the Stars Foundation. Catchings, a former WNBA All-Star, and Duncanville, TX native will be in attendance for the event.

The Girl Scout Color Guard will present the colors during the national anthem that will be sung by the Women’s Chorus of Dallas. The Wings will also hold a parade of teams recognizing girls’ basketball teams that participated in the Dallas Wings High School tour earlier this year. Duncanville High School girls’ basketball coach Cathy Self-Morgan will also be recognized as the Wings Jr. WNBA Coach of the Year.

The home opener also marks the team’s second year of broadcast with Fox Sports Southwest. Sixteen of the Wings’ 17 home games will be broadcast locally on the regional network, with one game being broadcasted nationally on ESPN2. On-air talent Ron Thulin and Reagan Pebley will be joined by sideline reporter Alexa Shaw with Bob Steinfeld serving as Executive Producer.

In 2018, the Wings will play nine weekend dates at College Park Center – three Fridays, one Saturday and five Sundays. Additional highlights include the team’s Annual Kids Day on Wednesday, July 17 (tip-off at noon) a visit by the 2017 WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, July 1, and the ESPN2 broadcast against Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics on Thursday, July 19.

On Sunday, July 22 the team will host the Connecticut Sun with a special post-game concert featuring national recording artists, The Walls Group. Grammy award-winning producer and songwriter Kirk Franklin will serve as host of the special event. Game time is 3 p.m.
