The Dallas Wings (5-15) return home to face the New York Liberty (8-11) Thursday, August 1 at College Park Center on Texas Forever Night, presented by American Fidelity. Fans can tune in to Fox Sports Southwest for the 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
Dallas was powered by a pair of rookies in its last outing, with Rookie of the Year candidate Arike Ogunbowale tallying a team-high 14 points and Megan Gustafson scoring a career-high 11 points. It’s the first time since May 14, 2017 that two rookies were the Wings’ top two scorers. It was the fourteenth time Ogunbowale has scored 10 or more points in a game, the most among rookies in the WNBA.
Defensive Player of the Year contender Kayla Thornton led the Wings in scoring against the Liberty the last time these two teams met back on June 28. The UTEP product tallied 20 points, a career-high mark, and collected nine rebounds. Theresa Plaisance recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, also setting a career-mark with all her rebounds coming on the defensive side of the court.
The game will feature a bucket hat giveaway, Jesse Jennings performing the National Anthem and an in-game rodeo with stick pony barrel racing, lasso Lightning and an armadillo derby.
