Uncasville, Connecticut (August 21, 2022) – The Dallas Wings (1-1) defeated the Connecticut Sun (1-1), 89 – 79, at Mohegan Sun Arena, Sunday afternoon.
The Wings were led by veteran Kayla Thornton, who racked up 20 points, dished out four assists and grabbed five rebounds. She was joined in double-figures by Teaira McCowan (17), Allisha Gray (15) and Marina Mabrey (14). McCowan also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for the first post-season double-double of her career. Allisha Gray notched a season-high eight assists for the Wings.
As a team, Dallas’ 89 points were the most scored in a postseason game in franchise history since the team moved to Dallas and the victory was the first for the team since moving to Dallas. The team’s 28 assists are the second most helpers the team has had all season.
