Wings Lose to Sky on the Road

ARLINGTON, TX. – The Wings fell to the Sky 114-99 to drop to 14-10 on the season, including 5-7 on the road despite a season-high six Wings players scoring in double figures.

The Sky started off hot, taking a quick 9-2 lead in the first quarter. But the Wings battled back to within two before Chicago pulled away to a 31-24 lead after the opening period.

The Wings stayed close in the second quarter but could never take the lead as the Sky grabbed a 57-52 lead heading into the locker room. Liz Cambage led the way for the Wings in the first half with 10 points and four rebounds.

In the third quarter, the Sky extended their lead over the Wings to 89-76 heading into the final quarter.

The Sky continued to pull away from the Wings as they picked up a 114-99 victory. The Wings were led by Cambage for the third straight game as she recorded 23 points, five rebounds and five assists. Skylar Diggins-Smith added 21 points, five rebounds and five assists. Rookie Azurá Stevens led the way off the bench for the Wings with 14 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Allisha Gray recorded 13 points, while Kayla Thornton scored 12 points. Kaela Davis added 11 points off the bench.

Courtney Vandersloot led the Sky in a record-breaking performance in which she recorded the first triple-double in Chicago Sky history with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists.

The Wings return home to take on Connecticut on July 22 in their final game before the All-Star break. Tip-off against the Sun is set for 3 p.m. CT.
