Arlington, TX – The Dallas Wings had a record-breaking night, rounding out the 2017 series with the Seattle Storm tonight, defeating them 93-80.
The Wings made 16, 3-point field goals, recording a franchise record, and tying a WNBA record to get their twelfth win of the season. The team scored a season high in the second quarter scoring 32 points to Seattle’s 19, to build its 13-point halftime margin, never allowing the Storm to get closer than 12 for the remainder of the first half. The Wings knocked in eight three’s in that quarter alone, the most put down in a frame this season.
Skylar Diggins-Smith led the night recording 23 points. It was the twelfth time this season she scored 20 points or more. She led the team in 3-point field goals made going 5-for-7 behind the arc. She also led the team in assists with seven.
Six Wings players recorded double figures for the night, the most ever for the season. Along with Diggins-Smith’s 23, Karima Christmas-Kelly ended the night with 14 points, five boards and four assists. Glory Johnson knocked in her ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds. The 16 rebounds marked as a new season high. She grabbed 13 on the opposite side of court, a new high. Theresa Plaisance also scored 11 points, going 3-for-6 from three-point land, and grabbed five boards.
Aerial Powers came in off the bench scoring 10 points and grabbing nine boards. The nine total rebounds was a new season high, with eight coming off the defensive, which also marks a season high.
With the win, the Wings remain in the playoff hunt, remaining at seventh place overall in the league, a game and half away from New York and the sixth spot.
