Wings Fall to Fever in Final Preseason Game

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Dallas Wings fell, 90-83, to the Indiana Fever today in their second and final preseason game.  

The Wings’ co-leading scorer, Satou Sabally, hit double digits in a third quarter on a layup and a made free throw in an and-one opportunity. Sabally finished the day with a team-leading nine rebounds and was perfect from the free throw line, accounting for 7 of the team’s 16 free throws. Arike Ogunbowale recorded 18 points alongside Sabally. Two other Wings’ players reached double figures as Natasha Howard chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists, while center Teaira McCowan recorded 14 points and four rebounds. All five starters recorded three assists on the day and as a team the Wings finished with 18 assists on 29 made field goals.

Dallas Wings Notes:

  • Teaira McCowan shot 71% from the field and finished with 14 points while recording four rebounds and rejecting a team-leading three shots. McCowan recorded a +/- of 13, which once again led the team. 
  • Natasha Howard, who spent her first two seasons in the WNBA with Indiana, added 11 points to the Wings’ effort this afternoon alongside five rebounds. 
  • All three of Veronica Burton’s field goals game from three and concluded the day shooting 75% on 3-4 shooting.
  • Four of the five Wings starters recorded double digit scoring efforts and combined for 70 of the team’s points. All five starters recorded three assists. 
  • The Wings trimmed the double-digit Fever lead to just three with two minutes remaining following a 9-0 Dallas run that saw baskets from McCowan, Howard, Ogunbowale and a three from Sabally.
