DALLAS QUOTES
Head Coach Vickie Johnson
On Mabrey’s increased role and Ogunbowale connection…
“I talked to Marina after Gray left and gave her a different goal for our team in order for us to be successful. They can shoot the basketball; they can make big time shots. But they are so used to playing together, working together, so it is just a great combination between the two…I have a lot of trust in [Mabrey] and Arike is just Arike…we will be good team. We aren’t there yet, but we will be a good team.”
Guard Marina Mabrey – 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
On Seattle’s defense…
“They closed our space a lot faster and took our first options away. They pre rotate a lot and so that first initial pass isn’t open and I think that disrupted our offense a bit and made us catch it out a little farther than we wanted to.”
Forward Isabelle Harrison – 16 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks
On her defense…
“Defensively, I feel like I still have room for improvement. Stewie scored a lot tonight and that was my assignment for the game, and I just wanted to lock her down more. Defensively, I could have played better.”
Guard Arike Ogunbowale – 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
On what she can learn from the veterans she is playing against…
“We are already competing with these players so we can only get better. It’s crazy we have a lot of potential. So, we are going to keep gelling once they come, we are going to get that chemistry and I am really excited for our season.”
