The Dallas Wings (2-3) face the Connecticut Sun (0-5) Thursday at 7 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Southwest Plus after narrowly being edged by the league leading Chicago Sky 82-79 in its last appearance.
Arike Ogunbowale poured in 26 points against Chicago, netting her 25th career game of being the Wings’ leading scorer. That’s fourth most for any player 38 games into their career. Similar to playing against the Sky, Ogunbowale has a different mindset playing against Connecticut and is averaging 25 points a game so far in her young career. The Notre Dame product has collected three games of 20 or more this season, bringing her career total to 21.
The Wings bench put up a historic 33 points in the first half on Tuesday night. It’s the most points for a first half in franchise history and the Dallas bench has gathered a league-leading 162 points. The reserves are also shooting a combined 41 percent from deep. Dallas was last place as a team in total makes from three-point land five games into the 2019 season and this year they’ve made the third most with 40.
Dallas is also seeing significant production from its rookies. Satou Sabally is leading all rookies in rebounding (7.2) and is third in scoring (13.2), Bella Alarie is leading first-year players in total blocks (8) and Tyasha Harris has the best assist to turnover ratio (4.5) of rookies who have appeared in every game so far this season.
