Wings Defeat the Sky in Preseason Play

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Wings rallied at College Park Center against the Chicago Sky Friday evening to claim a 75-70 victory after trailing by eight points with seven minutes remaining in the game. Teaira McCowan led the Wings with 17 points and also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds and rejected three shots. Natasha Howard represented the second “big” to score in double digits with 11 points in her first game in a Wings uniform, while also tying for the team lead with eight rebounds. Arike Ogunbowale joined the duo in double digits with ten points of her own.

The Wings outscored the Sky 19-10 in a pivotal fourth quarter. Ogunbowale and Crystal Dangerfield each sunk a three in the fourth to seal the deal for the Wings, while forward Satou Sabally also grabbed a decisive rebound in the final minutes. She finished with eight points and seven rebounds on the evening.

  • The Wings’ leading scorer, Teaira McCowan, made the first basket of the 2023 season for the Dallas Wings with a layup at 8:26 in the first quarter.
  • Satou Sabally rebounded her own missed free throw and turned around to make a layup and gave the Wings their first lead of the matchup (14-13) with 3:54 to play in the first.
  • Rookie Maddy Siegrist made made her first basket as a professional at 8:39 on an and-one opportunity.
  • Teaira McCowan recorded 17 points while shooting 77.8% from the field (7-9) and recorded a +/- of 16, which led the team.
  • Rookies Abby Meyers and Ashley Joens both made their professional debuts.
