The Dallas Wings (8-17) face the New York Liberty (8-16) for Cool for School night, presented by Texas Life Insurance, after their thrilling 84-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks Wednesday night.
In the win, Rookie of the Year contender Arike Ogunbowale dropped a career-high 35 points, the fifth most by any rookie in WNBA history and the second most by a Wings rookie. The Dallas defense limited Los Angeles to 14 points in the fourth quarter, tied for the second fewest points allowed in a fourth quarter this season, and the offense shot 46.9 percent from the field, including 57.1 percent from Ogunbowale. The Wings are now 6-3 this season when they shoot 40 percent or better from the floor. Glory Johnson chipped in a season-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Five of Johnson’s three-pointers came consecutively last night, tied for second most consecutive three-pointers made in franchise history.
Ogunbowale notched a game-high 22 points the last time the Wings and Liberty met and has scored 20 or more in three of the four contests since. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
