UTA Head Coach Shereka Wright Purchases Wings Playoff Tickets for Local Elementary and Middle School Children

Arlington, Texas (August 23, 2022) – University of Texas-Arlington Head Women’s Basketball Coach and former WNBA player Shereka Wright is providing an assist to help ensure the Dallas Wings have a home court advantage in the decisive Game 3 of the first round of the 2022 WNBA playoffs versus the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, August 24, at 8 p.m. CT.

Wright will purchase up to 250 tickets for the game to be distributed to local Arlington elementary and middle school students through various schools and organizations.

“We are so fortunate to have a WNBA team right here in Arlington,” said Wright, who played two seasons in the WNBA after being drafted 13th overall in 2004. “As a former player in this league, it’s been incredible to witness the growth of the WNBA and I have loved cheering on the Wings since my arrival at UTA. I’m thrilled to be able to provide tickets to young boys and girls in our community to attend Wednesday’s game to watch some of the best players in the world compete in an amazing playoff atmosphere.”

In just her second season leading the UTA program in 2021-22, Wright led the Mavericks to the NCAA Tournament and a 20-8 record and was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. The 2022-23 squad tips off its season on November 7 versus Texas Southern at College Park Center.

“Coach Wright has done a tremendous job at UTA and has been a huge advocate for the Wings since her arrival,” said Dallas President & CEO Greg Bibb. “We are so appreciative of her and all the former WNBA players in the DFW area who continue to support the team and contribute to the growth of the WNBA.”

Limited lower-level tickets remain for the Wings first home playoff game in franchise history and start at just $25. To purchase, visit DallasWings.com.
