UNCASVILLE, CT- Azurà Stevens made her grand debut for the Wings this afternoon leading the team to a preseason victory, 76-69. The rookie out of UCONN ended the day with 19 points and nine rebounds.
After being down by as much as six early in the first quarter, the Wings soared past the Liberty when Kaela Davis drove up the lane for two, to give the team a 27-23 edge. The Wings continued to dominate and walked away at the half with the lead, which would later give the team the advantage to take their first preseason win for 2018.
Just three days in from overseas, Kaela Davis came in leading the team in assists with three, finding her fellow teammates for key baskets to give the Wings the advantage and win. For the night, Davis recorded seven points, with five boards and the three assists.
Four Wings players came in scoring six points each, captains Skylar Diggins-Smith and Karima Christmas-Kelly, along with Saniya Chong and Ruth Hamblin.
The Wings continue preseason action tomorrow in Uncasville, when they take on the Connecticut Sun. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. The Wings return to Arlington this week and will play in their final preseason game Sunday, May 13, when they host Las Vegas for a 2 p.m. CT tip.
