Kayla Thornton Named Player of the Week

Kayla Thornton has been named Dallas Wings Player of the Week for her back-to-back 30-point performances in the past week.

Thornton, playing for the KB Stars of the WKBL, kicked off her week by hanging a 30 point and 12 rebound double-double on KEB Hanabank. It was her ninth double-double of the season and the second that has come by scoring at least 30 points. The forward also went a perfect eight-for-eight from the charity stripe.

She followed her performance by pouring in 31 points against Blue Minx, tying her season high. In her 30 minutes played, Thornton also added eight rebounds, four assists and one steal. She leads the WKBL in scoring at a mark of 20.4 points per game.

With 15 games left in the season, Thornton and the KB Stars are second in the league standings, sitting at 15-5, and they take on Cheongju on Jan. 17 and Asan on Jan. 21.
