Dallas Wings (0-4) forward Glory Johnson scored a season-high 15 points in an 86-62 loss to the Washington Mystics (4-1) Sunday evening. Crossing the double-digit mark for the first time this season, it was the 104-time Johnson has scored 10 or more points in her career. Johnson also pulled down a game-high tying nine rebounds, also a season-high mark for the Tennessee product. Imani McGee-Stafford collected double-digit scoring figures against the Mystics too, logging a season-high 10 points in seven minutes on the floor. After not having an assist all season, Kaela Davis handed out a career-high tying five helpers in the contest.
Washington got off to a quick 6-2 lead from back-to-back three-pointers, but rookie Brooke McCarty-Williams answered with a pair of her own three’s, tying the game at 8-8 with the clock reading 7:08 in the first quarter. Dallas would control the remainder of the quarter and finish the first period up 20-15. The Wings remained in the lead until a Mystics three put them up 25-24 with seven minutes left in the second quarter. Dallas would stay on the Mystics heels, only trailing by six headed into halftime, but second half three-pointers and free throw shooting from the Mystics would push them ahead and Dallas was unable to counter despite an early fourth quarter rally.
The Wings return home for a pair of home games this week with the first coming on Thursday, June 13 and the next Saturday, June 15. Both games are rematches as Dallas will face the Indiana Fever first followed by the Atlanta Dream. Both games are slated to tip off at 7 p.m. CT from College Park Center.
