Recap: Dallas Wings 87 – Washington Mystics 77

the Dallas Wings concluded their three-game road trip, defeating the Washington Mystics 87-77. The Wings started their 2016 campaign on the road, and will return to Arlington with a 2-1 record.

“I thought tonight was a good challenge for us,” said Head Coach Fred Williams. “Very pleased how the young ladies stepped up on this road trip.”

Odyssey Sims led the team in all points, registering 22 points a season high. She went 6-for-13 in field goals and was 10-for-11 in behind the free throw line. She also registered two assists and four rebounds. This is the second game Sims has hit double figures for the season.

”It’s always key on the road to make sure you knock down free throws,” said Sims. “I feel like everyone tonight attacked the basket especially at the free throw line. We executed well and got our free throws in.”

The Wings were 95% at the free throw line tonight, shooting 19-for-20. Sims led the team with 10 while Erin Phillips hit five.

Phillips, Karima Christmas and Aerial Powers all scored double figures to help lead the Wings to their win tonight. Phillips scored 16 points, nine of them from the three-point line. Christmas hit 11 points and rookie Powers hit double figures with 10 points.

The Dallas Wings will head back to Texas tomorrow as they prepare for their inaugural home opener against the Silver Stars. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm CT. For tickets, go to www.dallaswingsbasketball.com.
