Arlington, Texas (August 16, 2022) – Dallas Wings Head Coach Vickie Johnson has been named the WNBA Coach of the Month, the league announced today.
Under Johnson, Dallas went 5-2 in August, including defeating the number two seed Chicago Sky and the number one seed Las Vegas Aces back-to-back on August 2 and August 4. During the seven-game stretch, the team averaged 87.1 points per game and grabbed at least 30 rebounds in every contest. In the Wings final regular season game of the season, they set franchise-highs with a 61-point first half and 116 points in a regulation game while shooting better than 65% from the field. The Wings also dished out a season-high 33 assists.
Johnson is the first Coach of the Month recipient in franchise history since the league added the honor in 2017.
