Fort Worth, TX (Jan. 24, 2025) – The Dallas Wings and sponsor Texas Best Fence & Patio partnered to volunteer at Opal’s Farm in Fort Worth this week.

Opal's Farm is a non-profit sustainable five-acre farm in the heart of Fort Worth. Created by "The Grandmother of Juneteenth" Ms. Opal Lee, Opal's Farm works to grow healthy local produce and educate individuals on growing food for their own communities. Opal’s Farm grows food for the nearby Community Food Bank in Fort Worth and offers their produce at the Cowtown Farmers Market in Fort Worth for a reduced rate for USDA-SNAP customers.

Guided by Greg Joel, Farm Manager of Opal’s Farm, members of the Dallas Wings Front Office assisted in getting the gardens ready for the spring by spreading mulch and removing old tarping and materials. Led by Colby Coward, President of Texas Best Fence & Patio, a fence was built around the biointensive garden to help limit foot traffic through the plant beds.

“We’d really like to say thank you for all the work that came in today,” said Joel. “The Dallas Wings did an amazing amount of work that saved unbelievable labor hours for us here at the farm. We’d also like to thank the Texas Fence Association and Texas Best Fence & Patio for putting this all together for us and putting the fence up. It’s amazing to have this all done and we are grateful more than you will ever know.”

Texas Best Fence and Patio is a locally owned company which prides itself on establishing the benchmark in superior fence installation, outdoor living, and deck & patio services, offering unparalleled craftsmanship and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Texas Best Fence and Patio signed a multi-year agreement with the Wings in 2024, with a priority of impacting the community.

“This is such a great organization,” said Coward of Opal’s Farm. “Miss Opal Lee is an icon for the Dallas-Forth Worth Arena. We’re looking forward to doing more of these projects with the Dallas Wings.”

The Texas Fence Association also saw numerous contributors to the fencing project at Opal’s Farm, including Master Halco (materials), Southwest Fence & Deck (labor), Lowery Fence & Patio (labor), Aruba Iron Works (labor), and A&O Texas Solutions (labor). Additionally, Wings partner Positive Marketing will be donating signage to help elevate the branding around the fence.
