Dallas Wings Set To Open Training Camp April 29

The Dallas Wings will start their preparations for the 2018 season when the team opens training camp this Sunday, April 29. The Wings camp will run for the next three weeks, with three preseason games scheduled prior to the regular season tip-off in Phoenix on May 18. The team’s lone home preseason contest is scheduled for Sunday, May 13 with tip-off at 2 pm CT.

When the Wings open camp on Sunday, 12 of the 16 players on the 2018 training camp roster will be available to head coach Fred Williams and his staff. Forward Theresa Plaisance will be in attendance but continues to rehab an ACL injury sustained in October while playing overseas. Glory Johnson will also be limited in her participation as she recovers from a minor medical procedure.

Second year guard Kaela Davis is currently competing in the Turkish League playoffs with Galatasaray. Davis will report to training camp once Galatasaray finishes their playoff run while the recently signed Liz Cambage is finishing obligations related to the Commonwealth Games that concluded recently in her native Australia. Cambage is expected in camp prior to the Wings’ trip to Connecticut for preseason games on May 7-8.

This year’s training camp roster includes three-time all-star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith and veteran Karima Christmas-Kelly. The roster also includes the entire Wings sophomore class with 2017 WNBA Rookie of the Year Allisha Gray headlining the group. The 2018 draft class of Azurá Stevens, Loryn Goodwin and Natalie Butler join veterans Aerial Powers, Kayla Thornton and Ruth Hamblin to complete the roster.

Following the May 18 season opener, the team will open at home on May 20 against the Atlanta Dream. Tip-off is set for 2 pm CT, and will be part of the league’s #WNBAAllDay, where all 12 League teams will be in action. Individual tickets are on sale now.
