Dallas Wings Re-Sign Forward Kayla Thornton

Arlington, TX –The Dallas Wings have re-signed forward Kayla Thornton. Per team policy, terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Thornton played in all 34 games for the Wings in 2017, averaging 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She established career highs in seven categories, including a career mark for points in a game with 15 against Phoenix on August 10.

“Kayla was a key contributor to our team last year, and we are excited to have her return to our roster,” said Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb. “She brings energy, versatility and a defensive presence to the court. Her ability to guard multiple positions, shoot with range and play a physical brand of basketball are assets to our organization. Kayla is also a great teammate and works tirelessly at improving her game. As a result, I fully expect her to be even more productive moving forward.”

Currently, Thornton is playing for the Shinhan Bank S-Birds in the Women’s Korean Basketball League. She ranks third overall in the league in scoring and steals, averaging 18.3 points per game and two steals per game.

Thornton is expected to be joined by a host of returning Wings players when training camp opens in April. This list includes 2017 WNBA Rookie of the Year Allisha Gray and three-time all-star guard and 2017 All-WNBA First Team member Skylar Diggins-Smith.
