WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Dallas Wings soared high this evening as they took on the Washington Mystics, defeating them on their home court 83-78.
The Wings dominated the floor leading most of the way, taking their biggest lead of 10 points. Skylar Diggins-Smith led the team in scoring for the night recording 20 points and seven assists.
After being down by seven in the half, the Wings found themselves in a close-knit game, going back and forth in lead changes in the third quarter to finish with a one point lead going into the fourth.
In the final quarter of play, Dallas and Washington continued to battle it out. The Wings has as much as a six point lead over the Mystics, until they made the game interesting by tying it up with 2:20 left by a 3-point shot from Elena Delle Donne. Karima Christmas-Kelly answered back with a driving bank jump shot to give the Wings a two-point edge and trek on to their 15th overall win. Theresa Plaisance would come back with 17.6 seconds left to seal the game hitting a 3-point shot and give the Wings a big lead.
Christmas-Kelly also ended the night in double figures with 12 points for the night. Glory Johnson led the team in total boards with 11, while recording nine points.
The Wings complete their east coast road trip next Wednesday night, when they head to Chicago to go up against the Sky. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET.
