Wings Slated for Three Home Games

Arlington, TX –  The Dallas Wings return home this week to host three home games, the most Wings fans will see in a row this season. The team will welcome Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics first this Tuesday for an ESPN2 telecast. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

GOING UP THE MYSTICS
Tuesday’s game against the Mystics will mark as the 56th time in franchise history that the two teams will meet. It will also be the only game the Wings will host the Mystics at home. The other two games scheduled to take place in D.C. Last season the Wings went 1-2, taking their only win on the Mystics home court. Karima Christmas-Kelly led the team in rebounds with 10. On their home court, the Wings have the advantage leading the overall series as a franchise with a 30-28 record.

TEAM STATS
The Wings will host their third home game this season, and face their second western conference opponent while playing on their home court.
At home the Wings are 1-1.
On 5/30 vs the Indiana Fever the Wings recorded their largest victory of the season, taking their first win at home with a score of 89-62.

AMONGST LEADERS
The Wings are currently ranked third overall in the league in points per game. In seven games the team has accumulated 577 points overall, with an 82.4 average of points per game.

  • Against San Antonio on May 25, the Wings recorded the most points this season with 94. The team shot 86.2 percent from the line, a season high (25-for-29).

This past Friday against the Liberty in New York, the Wings recorded a season high in steals with 11 overall. Kayla Thornton led the way with three.

FLYING HIGH
The Wings 42 rebounds on May 30, marked as a new season high. It marks as the second game this season, that the team grabbed over 40 boards in a game. The first game this season was against Phoenix on May 14, when the team recorded 41 boards on the Mercury’s home court.
Overall the team is averaging 34.1 boards per game, which places them in the top 10 amongst the league. The Wings have grabbed over 30 rebounds in five of the seven games played.
Defensively, the team is averaging, 24.4 rebounds per game, with Glory Johnson leading the way with a total of 45 (6.4 average) on the opposite side of the court.
In offensive boards, the team is boarding up 9.5 per game, for a total of 67.

This week’s games will be seen on ESPN2 and FSSW+. Tuesday night the Wings and Mystics will take part in an ESPN2 broadcast, as the league kicks off their pride month telecast. Friday and Sunday’s game will be seen on the team’s broadcast partner FOX Sports Southwest, with both games being shown on FSSW+.

The Wings will be holding special theme night during the three-game stint. This Friday, it will be “Celebrando Las Wings” night, where the team will have special Latin features throughout the night. Sunday afternoon, the team will honor a basketball legend, Nancy Lieberman, who served as head coach for the Detroit Shock, where the team originated from.
