Arlington, TX – The Dallas Wings recorded their fourth straight win this afternoon, defeating the Connecticut Sun 96-82. The Wings stopped the Sun’s winning streak, with all five starters scoring in double figures for the first time this season.
Karima Christmas-Kelly led all scorers recording 24 points for the afternoon, shooting 70% from the field going 7-for-10. She also 80% from the line going 8-for-10, helping the Wings record their eighth win of the season and take the first game of the 2017 series from Connecticut.
The Wings took command from the beginning of the game, taking the first quarter 23-21, allowing the Sun to take the lead once, and dominating in the second going into the half with a 10-point lead, the biggest lead going into the half since May 30 against Indiana when they went in leading by 17.
In the third quarter, the Wings continued to dominate the floor, until Connecticut came within two. Christmas-Kelly then scored a 3-point shot to put the Wings up by five. The team ended the third with a 12-point lead that allowed them to close the fourth quarter and get the win.
Theresa Plaisance was three points shy from her season high, with 16 points scored. She also led the team with nine rebounds, a new season high. Glory Johnson and Diggins-Smith ended the afternoon with 15 points, while Allisha Gray recorded 12. Diggins-Smith’s nine assists also marked as a new season high.
