Wings Outscore Stars 33-13 For The Win

San Antonio, TX – The Dallas Wings outscored the San Antonio Stars 33-13 in the fourth quarter Thursday afternoon, to record their second win for the season, 94-82. With the win, the Wings are now 2-1 for 2017, 1-0 against the Stars, and 27-26 overall.

Karima Christmas-Kelly and Skylar Diggins-Smith had a milestone day becoming the first teammates since 2011 to score over a 500-point mark, recording their 1500th WNBA point. They also became the first hyphenated veteran duo in league history to hit such a feat together.

With 6:43 left in the game, the Wings tied the game (73-73), after being down by 10 in the beginning of the fourth, when Kaela Davis made two shots behind the line for the only tie in the quarter.

A minute later the Wings took the lead, when Glory Johnson got the lay-up, then stole the ball from Moriah Jefferson to set Christmas-Kelly up for the basket to give the team a two-point lead (77-75).

The Wings continued to seal the game, when Saniya Chong hit the three to put the team up by five, and allow the team to march on to their second victory of the season.

Five Wings players recorded double figures for day, with Christmas-Kelly leading the way scoring 18 points. Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Skylar Diggins-Smith and Allisha Gray both recorded 17 points, with Diggins-Smith leading the team in assists dishing out seven. Davis rounded out the five registering her second double figure game with 10 points. She shot perfect from the line for the third straight game going 4-for-4.
