Wings Fall To The Dream

ATLANTA, GA– After a big showdown in Arlington this past Wednesday, the Wings headed east to face the Dream once again for their second game against the eastern conference opponent this season, falling 98-78.

Skylar Diggins-Smith ended the day with 22 points, scoring 13 alone in the first quarter. The Wings put together a strong first half accumulating 51 points, the second best scored in the first half this season. Diggins-Smith and Allisha Gray combined for a total of 25 points to hold the team within two walking into the half.

In the second half, the Dream came out going on a 11-0 run, to take the score to a 62-51 game. The Wings held strong scoring five 3-point shots in the third. The Dream responded by taking a 17-point lead at the end of the quarter to take control of the game.

Glory Johnson recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Allisha Gray registered 15, the fifth straight game for the rookie to score double figures.

Off the bench, the Wings had stellar performances by center Courtney Paris who ended the day with eight points and six boards. Rookie Kaela Davis brought in seven, while Kayla Thornton scored five with three rebounds.

The Wings continue their road trip, as they head to Chicago to face the Sky for an early Wednesday morning matchup. The team returns to College Park Center on July 16, when they host the Chicago Sky.
