Wings Fall In Close Matchup Against The Sun

Uncasville, CT – In a game with 20 lead changes and seven ties, the Wings battled with the Sun, falling in a close matchup 93-87.
Skylar Diggins-Smith led the way with 19 points and six assists.

The Wings and Sun went kneck and kneck in another close game. Dallas found themselves taking the charge in the first half, to take a close lead by two. Connecticut came back to go into the half up by three.

Diggins-Smith, Theresa Plaisance and Kayla Thornton turned up the heat scoring eight points each, with Thornton recording six boards before the second half.

Walking in the second half, the teams continued the close game, with the Wings staying right there with the Sun, being down by as little as four points. It wasn’t until the final minutes of the fourth quarter when the Sun took a commanding leading to go up by as much as 12, but the Wings held on cutting the lead by half for the final score.

Joining Diggins-Smith in double figures was Allisha Gray who recorded 18 points, Plaisance brought in 17, shooting 50% behind the arc, while Christmas-Kelly scored 15 and Thornton 11. Thornton also broke two career highs in boards. She grabbed nine total boards, a career high, with seven on the defensive side, also a career high.

The Wings continue their east coast road trip, as they head to Washington, D.C. to face the Mystics. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET. Saturday night’s game will be seen on NBA TV.
