SAN ANTONIO, TX– The Dallas Wings opened preseason action on the road, facing the San Antonio Stars in an early afternoon contest. The Wings rookies showed out, as the team fell to the Stars 81-87.
In a close first half, the Wings walked into the locker room down by three, and came back to tie the game in the third quarter, when Davis hit a jumper to bring the game at 55 all. San Antonio then came back scoring seven unanswered points to take the lead and game.
Allisha Gray led the way recording 15 points, two steals and two blocked shots. The rookie standout shot perfectly from the line going 8-for-8.
Kaela Davis and Kayla Thornton also registered double figures. Davis finished the day with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Thornton scored 11 with six rebounds. Breanna Lewis also registered six rebounds, while veteran Erin Phillips led the team in assists with four.
The Wings continue training camp and will host their final preseason game of the season against the Indiana Fever. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at College Park Center. Tickets are still available for purchase at www.dallaswings.com.
