Wings End Home Series Falling to Lynx

Arlington, TX – The Dallas Wings ended their three home game series today, falling to the Minnesota Lynx 91-74.

Towards the end of the first quarter, the Wings went up by three when Kayla Thornton got the lay up off a pass from Karima Christmas-Kelly to notch up the score 19-16. The team kept the momentum up going into the second quarter when Kaela Davis found Saniya Chong for the lay up, but Minnesota responded back, and never saw back going on an 8-0 run to put themselves up 35-26.

Four Wings players scored double figures for the night, with Christmas-Kelly leading the way with 21 points. At the end of the first half, Christmas-Kelly scored 18 points, the most points scored in a half by a Wings player.

Rookie Allisha Gray recorded 14 points and seven rebounds, while Skylar Diggins-Smith ended with 11 points and led the team in assists with four. Saniya Chong scored a new season high for the day with 10 points, going for 4-for-7 from the field.
Forward Glory Johnson ended the night with eight points and eight rebounds, leading the team in total boards.

The Wings hit the road to face the Los Angeles Sparks this Tuesday, June 13. It will be the second time they will face the Sparks in under five days. Following the road game, the Wings will return home to go up against the New York Liberty on Friday, June 16 for their “Pride Night” game.
