Storylines

The Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury face off for the third time this season. Both teams have matching 8-10 records and are tied at the sixth spot in the league standings. Dallas has a 2-0 series advantage this season, winning once each in Phoenix and in Dallas. The two teams will meet up once more in Phoenix on August 26th.

In the first matchup between these two teams, Odyssey Sims scored 10 of her 18 points in the third overtime to seal the 117-110 win for the Wings. Skylar Diggins added a then-season high 27 points and Glory Johnson recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the game.

The Wings and Mercury are the top two scoring teams in the WNBA. Through 18 games each, Phoenix averages 88.5 points per game and Dallas averages 86.2. The Wings score the bulk of their points from 3-point shooting, averaging a league-high in 3-pointers made (7.6) and attempted (22.0) per game.

Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello played for the Wings organization in 1998 and 1999 when the team was based in Detroit. Brandello was named a 1999 WNBA All-Star and led the team in scoring both years.
