Powers Notches Career High; Wings Fall To Sparks

LOS ANGELES, CA – Aerial Powers notched a career high scoring 23 points, as the Wings and Sparks met up for the third time this season, with the Wings falling 95-74.

Powers led all scorers going 10-for-11 from the free throw line to help reach to the new high, along with collecting four total rebounds. She also led the team with three blocked shots, which also marked as a new season high.

From the start of the game, the Sparks took control, with Candace Parker scoring 12 points in the first quarter to help give the Sparks a 10-point advantage. The Wings came back in the second, to pull within five with a steal by Saniya Chong who found Gray open for the three.
The Wings ended the day shooting 90.9 percent from the line, the second highest for the season. The team also recorded five blocked shots, just two shy from their season high.

Three other Wings players recorded double figures for the day. Allisha Gray scored 16 points, Skylar Diggins-Smith ended the day with 14 points and led the team in assists with six. Also hitting double figures was Glory Johnson, with 10. Johnson also led the team in total boards with five.

The Wings will return to play at College Park Center for a three-game home series starting on August 4, when they host the Seattle Storm. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Following the game against the Storm, the Wings will host the Los Angeles Sparks on August 6, and will round out the home series against the Phoenix Mercury on August 10.
