Australian guard Erin Phillips of the Dallas Wings is part of a record 26 current WNBA players set to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games, surpassing the previous record of 22 in 2000.
Phillips’ Wings are one of 11 WNBA teams represented on national team rosters. The Phoenix Mercury lead the way with six players, followed by the Minnesota Lynx with five. The Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm each have three players participating, while the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever have two apiece.
Aside from the United States, Australia and Brazil have the second most WNBA players with three each. Serbia and Spain both feature two WNBA players.
Forty former NBA and WNBA players are also scheduled to participate in the Men’s and Women’s tournaments, including seven members of the Australian National Teams and six players on the Brazilian National Teams.
