Dallas Wings Overseas Player of the Week – Kayla Thornton

Kayla Thornton has been named Dallas Wings Overseas Player of the Week for the second straight week. This is the fourth time overall she has been tabbed the award.

Thornton had two outstanding performances this past week, combining for a total of 41 points, 18 rebounds and nine steals. This past Saturday, she went 7-for-13 from the field and 3-for-6 from the three point arc and free throw line, to score a total of 26 points. It was her 10th game this season she has scored 20 points or more. Not only was Thornton instrumental offensively, but also defensively, by recording six defensive boards and six steals. The steals marked a season high for her.

With her outstanding efforts this week, Thornton continues to stay in the top ranks in the WKBL as the third best player overall, averaging 19.0 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game. She also ranks third in steals averaging 2.8 per game.

Up next for Thornton and the S-Birds is a match-up with the Blue Minx on Jan 24. The series is tied at 2-2.
