Glory Johnson Leads Comeback, Defeating Sparks 96-90

Arlington, TX – In a fight to the finish, Glory Johnson recorded her third double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds, taking the Wings high as they defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 96-90.

Johnson scored 10 of the 24 points in the fourth quarter, the most put down this season.

In a back and forth game, the Wings found themselves down by three in the fourth, until Skylar Diggins-Smith found Saniya Chong open behind the arc with the rookie tying the game 79 all. With 5:20 left, Kayla Thornton found herself with no defender taking the ball down the court for an open layup to put the Wings up 83-81.

The Wings went on a 12-0 run in the second quarter, to put themselves back in the game after being doing by as much as 12 at the end of the first and pull themselves within two. In the second half the Wings didn’t give up the fight recording 55 points, the most scored in the half this season.

Five Wings players scored double figures for the second time this season. Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kayla Thornton ended the night with 13 points, while Theresa Plaisance scored 11 and Kaela Davis finished with 10.

The Wings will end their three-game series when they host the Minnesota Lynx this Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off. The team will hold Nancy Lieberman Day, and honor the basketball legend for all that she had done for the game of women’s basketball and Dallas Fort-Worth community.
