Diggins-Smith Scores 28; Wings Unable To Hold Down Sparks

LOS ANGELES- Skylar Diggins-Smith recorded a season high of 28 points, as the Wings fell to the Sparks 97-87 on the road.

Diggins-Smith scored 10 points in final four minutes of the fourth quarter, hitting three driving lay-ups and four good free throws to give herself the high. It was the second time this season she had scored a new mark, and the fourth game this season she has led the team in scoring. She also dished out five, to lead the team for the third consecutive game in assists and ninth game overall.

The Wings found themselves down by as much as 22 points coming into the final quarter, when Theresa Plaisance and Allisha Gray hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the team back in business. With more than four minutes left to play, the veteran duo of Karima Christmas-Kelly and Diggins-Smith turned up the heat scoring five unanswered to cut the lead and put the Wings within nine.

Two other Wings players would end the night scoring in double figures, joining Diggins-Smith. Glory Johnson recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards, leading the team in rebounds, while Gray scored 12.
