Dallas Wings Receive Third Pick In WNBA Draft Lottery

Arlington, TX.– The Dallas Wings have received the third pick of the 2017 WNBA Draft during tonight’s WNBA Draft Lottery, presented by State Farm. The 2017 WNBA Draft will take place in April of 2017.

Along with the selection awarded tonight, the Wings will have two additional first round picks in the 2017 WNBA draft. Dallas also owns the 10th pick, which was acquired from New York on May 11 in a trade for Amanda Zahui B., and the 11th pick that was acquired from Los Angeles along with veteran guard Erin Phillips in exchange for Riquna Williams on March 1.

Dallas entered the draft lottery tied with Los Angeles (via Connecticut) for the second-best chance at the number one pick. The Wings and Sparks were each given 227 chances out of 1,000 in possible combinations to land the top pick. San Antonio received the most chances with 442 for their combined 2015-2016 record of 15-53.

As a franchise, the Wings have had success with top draft picks, including 2016 first round selection Aerial Powers, who was recently named to the Associated Press WNBA All-Rookie Team.
