ARLINGTON, TX – Following today’s contest against the Seattle Storm, the Dallas Wings will remain west and travel to Phoenix, AZ for a first-round playoff game against the Mercury.
Tip-off is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21 at 5:30 p.m. PST inside Wells Fargo Arena on the campus of Arizona State University.
The Wings (15-18) solidified the eighth spot this past Friday, when they defeated the Las Vegas Aces at home 107-102. This will be the team’s second straight appearance in the playoffs since moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and first for interim head coach Taj McWilliams-Franklin at the helm.
The top eight teams advance to the playoff with the first two rounds consisting of single-elimination games (Phoenix vs. Dallas, Los Angeles vs. Minnesota; followed by Connecticut vs. TBD, Atlanta or Washington vs. TBD), while the semi-finals (Seattle vs. TBD, Atlanta or Washington vs. TBD) and WNBA Finals are best-of-five series. The top-two teams in the league receive first and second-round byes, while the third and fourth-seeded teams earn a first-round bye and host second-round games.
