Arlington, TX – It was a career breaking night for the Wings, as they defeated the Fever 89-62.
Karima Christmas-Kelly scored a career high of 27 points to lead the team to their third win of the season.
Glory Johnson also had an outbreaking career night. She recorded her 1000th career rebound registering eight boards for the night.
In the start of the first quarter, the Fever led by as much as four until 6:28 in the quarter, when Glory Johnson got the rebound to give Christmas-Kelly the open lane for the lay-up and tie the game at nine all. The Wings went on a 14-0 run to end the first 26-13.
At the half, the Wings were up by as much as 17 and continued to muscle the Fever out, to take the win. It was the largest margin of victory for the team over an opponent this season.
Rookie Allisha Gray had another stellar night with 14 points and nine rebounds. The total boards are a new season high and the second straight game she has led the team for the year.
Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kayla Thornton also recorded double figures with 12 points each. Diggins-Smith ended the night with seven assists, which led the team in total dishes. Thornton’s 12 points marks as a new career high in scoring.
The Wings will hit the road for a back-to-back stint starting June 2. The team will face the New York Liberty followed by another match-up between the Indiana Fever. They will return home on June 6 to start a three-game home series, which will entail games against Washington, Los Angeles and Minnesota.
